History of Great Club Symposiums
In 1996 Master Club Manager and former MCA Managing Partner, Edward Henderson organized and moderated what turned out to be the first annual Symposium of Great Country Clubs of the Midwest at Portage Country Club in Akron, Ohio. His fundamental purpose was to systematically gather and compare details of similar club operations in the areas of revenues, expenses and key staff compensations. His aim in gathering a select group of professional colleagues to share and to learn from each other was to keep the participants on the cutting edge of the latest trends and happenings in like clubs.
In 1999 Master Club Advisors became the official umbrella for the original Symposium group and the following year introduced other annual Symposiums designed to mirror the original concept. Senior MCA Partners and Master Club Managers Bill Schulz and Norm Spitzig facilitate an exciting menu of educational opportunities for their colleagues around the country.
Over time these Symposiums have increasingly been embraced by club managers and they make a unique and valuable contribution to their educational calendar.
