 William A. Schulz, MCM
"Management gets what it watches,
not what it wants."
 

Master Club Manager Bill Schulz resides in Houston, Texas and is a Principal and Senior Partner in Master Club Advisors.  Bill has a passion for food and beverage excellence coupled with strong financial skills. A culinary school graduate, he was an executive chef before making his mark in management. His resume as general manager includes city club experience and the prestigious Twin Orchard Country Club on Chicago's North Shore and the historic Wisconsin Club. Since 1990, he has been General Manager/COO at the nationally prominent Houston Country Club.

Bill is a recognized leader of exceptional vision in the club industry. He became a National Director of the Club Managers Association of America in 1988 and served as President in 1994. He serves with distinction as a Governor of the Club Foundation and is a member of the Confreie dé la Chaine de Rotisseures and other related organizations. Many of Bill's ideas and programs are models used in clubs today. He has won numerous first place awards in CMAA's Idea Fair, including four Blue Ribbons in the Chief Operating Officer category. In 1997 he became CMAA's eighth Master Club Manager (MCM); his monograph, Assistant Manager In Development Program is today's training standard for clubs in the United States and throughout Europe. Bill was recognized as "Club Manager of the Year" in 1999 and is a recipient of "The Excellence in Club Management Award" presented in 2002.

Norman J. Spitzig, Jr., MCM

Master Club Manager Norm Spitzig resides in Mount Dora, Florida and is Principal and  Senior Partner of Master Club Advisors. Norm is internationally recognized as an eloquent and visionary spokesman for the private club industry. His groundbreaking book Perspectives on Club Management – now 20 years old - continues to inspire and challenge club directors, managers and students around the world.

Norm’s leadership and professional contributions to the private club industry are been varied and significant. Elected a National Director of CMAA in 1989, he served as National President in 1995 – the same year he became one of the six original general managers to earn the prestigious lifetime Master Club Manager (MCM) designation.

Norm’s Board of Directors’ Leadership Orientations and Strategic Planning Sessions have been very well received at national, regional and local meetings of many professional associations as well as great individual private clubs on four continents.

The Master Club Manager (MCM) Designation

"The Master Club Manager (MCM) designation is the highest level of professional
certification and achievement awarded by the Club Managers Association of America.”

The Master Club Manager is a respected leader within the club management profession. This individual has demonstrated a high level of professionalism in both business and personal environments maintaining high standards of excellence and personal integrity. He/she has achieved this designation through hard work and dedication over time.

The MCM designation identifies an individual who shares his/her success at many levels, and who has contributed to the success of others in the club profession, in the individual clubs and in their communities throughout their club management career. There are only fourteen Master Club Managers in the United States.
